The Best 14k Gold Disc Necklace For Everyday Wear

Last year, I made a resolution to buy higher quality items. Jewelry was one of the first categories that came to mind. I was tired of spending money on gold-plated jewelry that tarnished after a few months. I joke that I don’t take off jewelry when showering or sleeping because of who I am as a person, and it’s true. After a lot of research, I found the best  14k gold disc necklace, and I’m so excited to share it with you. While the price tag is great for what you’re getting, it’s certainly not cheap. I viewed my necklace purchase as an investment, which is why I spent so much time researching. I want to share how I decided on this necklace, how to know what kind of jewelry to purchase for yourself, and my honest thoughts after several months of nonstop wear.

My Favorite 14k Gold Disc Necklace

In my opinion, adding a few jewelry staples that you wear every day is a great way to elevate your personal style. Other than my wedding ring, I’ve struggled to find anything I liked enough to never take off. When I have found costume jewelry pieces, they’ve always tarnished after a couple months of wear. I was going to buy a plain chain, but I decided on a disc necklace from MayaAndMia because it adds a bit more personality. My budget was $300 — I had money I’d set aside to treat myself. I spent hours (not kidding!) Googling before I found the one I bought.

14k Gold vs. 18k Gold vs. Gold Plated

First, it was time to decide what kind of gold necklace I wanted. (I’ve never worn silver jewelry, other than my white gold wedding set. If I were picking it out today, it’d definitely be yellow gold.) I knew that gold-plated was the least durable option, but I had no idea that it has 100 times less gold than gold-filled jewelry. The average lifespan of a gold-plated piece is only 1 to 2 years.

In contrast, 14k gold and 18k gold can both last a lifetime. I wasn’t sure of the difference between the two, so I got to reading. I learned that 14k gold contains less pure gold and is more durable as a result. It can take more wear and tear than 18k gold, which is what I needed. 18k gold has a really pretty color, but it’s also more expensive. For me, a 14k gold disc necklace was a no-brainer.

Finding The Right Seller

I wanted to buy from a jeweler I was familiar with, but when I came across the MayaAndMia necklace, I knew it was what I wanted. The shop has thousands of reviews, and most of them are five stars. I always look for reviews with pictures, and I felt confident that the store had good quality items and great customer service. After a few days with it sitting in my cart, I decided to go for it. It shipped quickly and was packaged beautifully. I put it on and have barely taken it off since. SHOP IT HERE.
