15 Tampa Latin Restaurants You Don’t Want To Miss
Lolis Mexican Cravings
I haven’t been to Lolis myself, but I wish y’all could hear the way Vagner raves about this place. They serve tacos, tortas, tamales, and more, and they’re up to five locations in Tampa.
4.5/5 stars on Yelp, $, 8005 Benjamin Rd., Tampa
Tacos Las Californias
Tacos Las Californias is my vote for the best Mexican food in Tampa. The California burrito is tasty and so filling. They just added a brick-and-mortar spot along with their food truck, and it’s on my list of places to check out.
4.5/5 stars on Yelp, $, 7007 N Armenia Ave., Tampa
West Tampa Sandwich Shop
I didn’t visit this sandwich shop until 2020, when I was craving a Cuban and wanted to find the top place locally to get one. It didn’t take long. West Tampa Sandwich Shop is beloved by President Obama (casual) and makes the best sandwich in town.
4/5 stars on Yelp, $, 3904 N Armenia Ave., Tampa
Red Mesa Restaurant
We love a good fusion restaurant, am I right? Red Mesa offers Latin, Caribbean, and Tex-Mex cuisines in a fun environment. When I worked in St. Pete, it was one of my favorite spots I tried.
4/5 stars on Yelp, $$, 4912 4th St N, St. Pete
Guac n’ Cheese
Some of the restaurants on this list offer more limited menus, but Guac n’ Cheese isn’t one of them. Pick from carne asada, nachos, quesadillas, burritos, fajitas, and a ton of other options. They also have quite an impressive happy hour.
4/5 stars on Yelp, $$, 4101 S Macdill Ave., Tampa
Casita Taqueria
If you’re on the Pinellas side of the bridge and searching for amazing tacos, Casita Taqueria needs to be your first stop. They have a versatile menu with many options, including a brussels sprout taco for all the vegetarians.
4.5/5 stars on Yelp, $, 2701 4th St., St. Pete
Rene’s Mexican Kitchen
Rene’s is the only restaurant in this roundup with a five-star Yelp rating. Even some of my favorite spots only have four-and-a-half stars, so I’m impressed. I’m drooling looking at their full menu — the shrimp and chorizo taco is calling my name.
5/5 stars on Yelp, $, 4414 N Nebraska Ave., Tampa
Muchachas
I admittedly avoid Armature Works unless I’m going during an off time, like on a midday afternoon, because the crowds can be so overwhelming. If you decide to brave the masses, you’ll have a lot of options for food. Muchachas is one of my favorite vendors there, and their tacos are great.
4.5/5 stars on Yelp, $, 1910 N Ola Ave. Ste 14, Tampa
El Puerto Restaurant & Grill
It’s no secret that Ybor City has some of the best Tampa Latin restaurants in town, and El Puerto is just one example. They’re known for their fusion of Peruvian and Argentinian food, and the restaurant is a perfect spot for a family dinner or quick lunch.
4/5 stars on Yelp, $$, 1623 E 5th Ave., Tampa
La Cubanita Cafe
Looking for black beans and rice, deviled crab, or platanos? Drive over to Brandon to visit La Cubanita, and you won’t be disappointed. This is a casual, affordable spot with food that lives up to its reputation.
4/5 stars on Yelp, $, 723-A W Lumsden Rd., Brandon
Nico’s Arepa Grill
If you haven’t tried Venezuelan food, this is the place to go. Nico’s has empanadas, cachapas, and — of course — arepas. If you aren’t sure what to order, I recommend the chicken arepas or pollo especial.
4/5 stars on Yelp, $, 8303 N Armenia Ave., Tampa
Cepas Wine and Tapas Bar
You don’t have to go to the trendy parts of town to eat excellent Latin food. Cepas is in Carrollwood, and they offer tapas along with a fantastic wine and beer selection. Their charcuterie boards look especially tasty.
4/5 stars on Yelp, $$, 5350 W Village Dr., Tampa
Terra Sur Cafe
There’s a reason Terra Sur is called the best-kept secret in town. It’s super cozy and filled with unique artwork. You’ll find some of the best Peruvian food in the city, along with an impressive wine bar.
4/5 stars on Yelp, $$, 5330 Ehrlich Rd. Ste 103, Tampa
Tacos El Borracho
If you love finding hole-in-the-wall spots, look no further. It’s the perfect inexpensive lunch, and the asada burrito and chorizo quesadillas both look like they’re *chef’s kiss.* Just look for the Marathon Gas on Kennedy.
4/5 stars on Yelp, $, 2602 W Kennedy Blvd., Tampa
La Pequena Colombia
Last but not least, we have one of the best spots for authentic Colombian food. The bakery offers a ton of options like arepitas and tostadas, along with Colombian coffee.
4/5 stars on Yelp, $$, 6312 N Armenia Ave., Tampa
