Ashley Maimz Sofa Review

Ashley Maimz sofa in a formal living room

Furniture shopping is my least favorite thing in the world. I’m easily overwhelmed and only sometimes great at making decisions under pressure, so you can see why it would stress me out. Once I find a good product, I scream it from the mountaintops — and that’s how I feel about the Ashley Maimz sofa. I love it so much that I sang its praises in New York Magazine last year. It’s a good couch!

I wanted a stylish piece that wouldn’t break the bank for our formal living room. We don’t spend a ton of time in there, so I couldn’t rationalize spending the amount we did on our living room couch. Comfort was still my priority — nothing worse than a stiff couch. I was sold after trying this one out at our local Ashley Furniture store. I ended up loving it so much that I purchased the loveseat version for my husband’s upstairs office a few months later.

Ashley Maimz Sofa Review

I will explore a few factors that helped me decide on the couch, including price, durability, and overall aesthetic. Your mileage may vary, but I’m doing everything I can to bring you a well-rounded review. I use affiliate links in this post, but I purchased both couches with my own money, and my review is, as always, my honest opinion.

The Maimz sofa is 90 inches wide, 38 inches tall, and has a depth of 38 inches. It weighs 129 pounds. In contrast, the loveseat has a much smaller profile — while it has the same height and depth, it is only 66 inches wide and weighs 108 pounds. In my opinion, the sofa is perfect for an average-to-large room, while the loveseat is ideal for more cramped quarters.

As of my publication date, the Maimz sofa retails for $799, while the loveseat is $749. It’s important to know that Ashley regularly runs sales, so it’s possible to get both for cheaper. I only spent $649 on the loveseat because I waited for a holiday sale. Even full-priced, both couches are worth the money. Finding an affordable sofa under $800 is challenging, and I’d buy either of these at their retail price.

Neither couch is in a high-traffic area in our home, so they aren’t put through as much wear and tear as some of our other furniture. But they’ve proven easy to clean when I’ve wiped them down as needed. I’ve had no issues with loose stitches or sagging, either.

This isn’t the couch for you if you hope to sink into the cushions. There’s a firmness to both the sofa and the loveseat, although it isn’t unpleasant. I am okay with a firm couch, so this wasn’t a deterrent for me, but anyone who wants something extra-soft may want to look elsewhere.

My absolute favorite thing about the Ashley Maimz sofa? It looks like a million bucks. I get compliments from friends and family members who visit in person, and it photographs beautifully. If you’re looking for an aesthetically pleasing sofa that will let you stay within budget, this is the one.
