My 3 Favorite Ways To Take Care of Indoor Spaces

This post is sponsored by Febreze. As always, opinions are my own.

When Vagner and I bought our house, we both worked in offices and didn’t spend a ton of time at home. I didn’t think too much about making our home a peaceful place between hanging out with family and friends, going to church, and attending local blogging events. Fast forward to the present day — we both work from home full-time now, and we spend a lot of time at home with Nora.

I’ve never been much of a homebody. So, it’s been a little hard to get used to, but I’m starting to appreciate it. As I’ve adjusted, something that has been most helpful is making our home feel like a sanctuary. If you’re also spending a lot of time at home, I’ve got some tips for taking care of indoor spaces and making staying at home as enjoyable as possible.

My 3 Favorite Ways To Take Care of Indoor Spaces

Use Febreze for Instant Freshness

My sense of smell has been so sensitive since my pregnancy with Nora. I expected it to return to normal. But it never did, and certain smells can still overwhelm me. That means I’m always hyper-aware of any unsavory scents. Even reheating strong-smelling leftovers in the microwave can make everything smell unpleasant. We’ve used Febreze AIR around the house to eliminate odors for a while. It makes a big difference.

Other air fresheners I’ve tried in the past merely cover up the offending odor. However, Febreze actually eliminates bad smells. Febreze uses a unique combination of a water-based formula, citric acid and sodium citrate. It also has cyclodextrin and 100% natural and non-flammable nitrogen propellant to eliminate odors at the source. I feel good using it around my family. There are countless ways Febreze can come in handy regardless of the size of your house.

We use it all the time in our living room — Luna may only be eight pounds, but she gets pretty stinky! I also love utilizing Febreze AIR in the kitchen when we’re done cooking. And when the house feels stuffy and I want to freshen things up, I’ll spray my new favorite Febreze AIR Ember in my office nook.

Tidy For 15 Minutes A Day

I don’t know about you, but I find it hard to relax at home when my house is a mess. Some people prefer deep cleaning once a week. However, I get stressed out by clutter and try to tackle it daily. I saw someone recommend setting a timer every day for 15 minutes and tidying until it goes off. It’s a lot less intimidating than trying to clean for hours. As an alternative, I’ll sometimes play an episode of a short form news podcast and clean until it ends. Keeping a tidy house feels less overwhelming once it becomes part of your daily routine. I also love using Febreze AIR as the final touch of my daily cleaning routine to make my house feel instantly fresh.

Let Some Light In

I notice a massive change in my mood and overall demeanor when a room is filled with light. I recently read an article about how sunshine can increase serotonin levels, which is so true for me. That’s why I keep the kitchen and living room window blinds open throughout the day to keep our house feeling bright and cheery. It makes it much easier for me to feel motivated to shoot content, too. If your home doesn’t have many windows or you live in a region without much sunlight during winter, a sunlight therapy lamp is something to consider — a few of my cold-weather friends swear by them.
