Our House Tour, One Year Later

I can’t believe it’s been a year since we moved into our house! Home buying isn’t for the faint of heart, especially in last year’s market. We lucked out and bought our first home in 2018, which was an excellent time for buyers. (I want to cry thinking about how low our interest rate was then.) We started to feel like we were outgrowing our home a couple of years ago — I was working from the living room, we didn’t have a yard for our dog or toddler, and our home layout made it hard to host people.

Selling our house was easy. We were in a desirable neighborhood, and it went off the market in days. I was anxious about buying another home, but we fell in love with the first house we looked at, put in an offer, and got it at the asking price — which is so much better than we were expecting. Because we didn’t have to go over asking, our furnishing budget for our house was more than I expected — believe me when I say I took advantage.

Our House Tour, One Year Later

I’ve wanted to do a master post with photos of the rooms I share online most often and links to find everything. I want to add the caveat that there are parts of my home that I don’t ever show, so please don’t think I’m entirely done decorating a year in just because I’m sharing our house tour! I’m using affiliate links in this post — they provide me with a small commission at no cost to you.

I joke that this is the Internet’s favorite room of my house — anytime I share it on Pinterest or Instagram, the posts get a ton of traction. The before picture is from the realtor’s listing before we bought our home! See a full video by clicking here.

This is my favorite transformation. We had the help of Chinotto House, a Gainesville-based design firm, who gave us tips for making the space more cohesive. I still have a lot that I want to do, but I’m happy with where we’re at.

The living room is the first room I started after we moved in. It’s where we spend most of our time, and I love how cozy it feels. I want to add more artwork on the walls, but I’m happy with it. You can see the entire room in this Reel.

If you’re moving, remember it’s okay if it’s a work in progress! It’s been a year, and I still have much to do. That’s the fun of it. Thanks for reading our house tour!
